Queue not following playlist

despite shuffle never being on when i select a playlist to play the song play in a jumbled order and after 3/4 songs in a random order spotify then starts playing songs outside of the playlist. When shuffle is activated the playlist songs do appear in a randomised order.

Thanks for getting in touch about this and welcome to the Community.

Just to confirm, does this happen only on a specific playlist or with all your playlists? We'd also like to know if this happens across devices.

On another note, we'd recommend checking the queue if there are some other songs ready to play there. If so, you can tap on "Clear queue" and then start playing your playlist.
