When trying to add liked song it says already liked this song

My Question or Issue

Whenever I try to add certain songs to my liked songs, it says “already in liked songs” even though the song is not in the playlist.

Let's try and narrow down what's happening to see what might be causing this. Could you let us know the following:

Does this only happen with a specific song or songs or with any you try to add to the Liked list?
Does this only happen on your iPhone or across all devices? What about the web player?
Does it only affect the Liked Songs or all playlists in general?
When did this start happening?

With this information, we’d be happy to investigate.

I have the same problem. Some (not all) songs come up on my iPhone as "already in liked songs" when I try to add them. The only way to add them is to go to the web player and add them from there. Then they turn up on the iPhone. I have done a clean reinstall of Spotify on the iPhone but the problem persists. I am not aware of it happening with other playlists, only Liked Songs.

Sometimes a different version or upload of the song can cause this behavior, so it'd be great if you can search with one of these song's names in your Liked Songs to check if a different release has already been added to it before. That shouldn't be the case, since you mentioned you didn't have any issues on the Web Player, but we just want to rule out this scenario as a potential cause.

If that's not the case, it'd be really helpful if you can send us a few example URIs from songs, which cause this error so we can test if we can reproduce the issue on our end. Also, can you let us know where in the app you're trying to like them from - is it from a playlist you were listening to at the moment, from an album, the artist's page, the lock screen, etc.? The more info you provide around what exactly happens, the easier it will be for us to test this out and investigate further.

One thing that comes to mind and could be helpful is checking if this happens with another device and account - you can ask a friend or a relative for their phone for a couple of minutes so you can log in on it and check if the same thing happens on it. You can also ask them to log in their own accounts on your phone to see if they experience the same thing. This will help us check if this might be device- or account-related.
