Spotify keeps playing a blocked artist

Despite having over 11,000 likes songs Spotify always want to play Lily Allen to the point where I was sick of her music. I went to her artist page and blocked her but Spotify is still playing her music. I didn’t want to block Lily Allen in the first place, I just want to be able to listen to my music without Spotify thrusting the same 20 songs on me and making me hate music I used to love. Since blocking artists doesn’t seem to fix this, is there any alternative other than just unliking all the songs Spotify won’t stop playing? I like those and will want to listen to them in the future, but will likely forget about them if they’re not in my library.

I understand your frustration. Here are some of my suggestions for dealing with this efficiently (which is how I did it, as it was happening to me too):

Creating Custom Playlists:

Create specific playlists with a variety of songs you like, excluding the ones that are on repeat.
This will give you more control over what you listen to without removing songs from your library.

Use Random Play Mode on Larger Playlists:

Add your favorite songs into one big playlist and use shuffle mode. This helps to vary the songs played.

Explore New Genres and Artists:

Invest time exploring new music, genres and artists. This can help "train" Spotify's algorithm to vary more.

Feedback for Spotify:

Use Spotify's feedback function to report that you're getting too many repeats of certain songs or artists.
These platforms often adjust their algorithms based on user feedback.

Use the Weekly Discovery Function and News Radar:

These functions help you introduce new songs and artists based on your music taste.

Disable AutoPlay:

In Spotify's settings, turn off the option to automatically play similar songs after a playlist or album ends.
These approaches should help diversify the music you listen to on Spotify without needing to dislike songs you like.

I have the same problem and those options are not good for me. My problem was caused because sometimes while I'm in the car with my family I have to accept other music genres and now I cannot block songs because that option is missing.
I normally follow the above recommendations, but disabling autoplay is not desired. Spotify is wonderful because of its autoplay feature, but it should be trained when we block songs or artists, but I can no longer us that option!

My Question or Issue

I used to have a multitude of artists under the 'do not play' option and now the artists are all over my playlists again AND clicking the 'do not play' button is not actually putting them in the blacklist at all. But the blacklist still works on mobile (android). Is there any chance to fix this?

Asking here in case I'm doing something wrong somehow, lol...

Why have blocking features that don't even work? Your Ads work perfectly fine but you can't figure this out for some reason...

This artist and song are both blocked, yet this will always play when I'm listening to Mereba.

Indeed, no matter if the artist is blocked, the automatic playlists like TOP50 keep playing it. My solution is a bit awkward and mostly manual but effective nevertheless:
- open the Queue in the left bottom, an icon with stacked lines;

- remove blocked tracks.

My Question or Issue

Does Spotify take any notice of my taste profile? I have had announcements on my home page for artists I have selected for Spotify not to play, as well as artists and genres of music I do not like and have no intention of listening to. I find it annoying to see these in the Discover Weekly and Release Radar playlists. This spoils my enjoyment of listening to music I like when I have to go to the artist's profile and once again select the 'Don't play this artist' option.
