Smart Shuffle - great on laptop, only Funk on phone

My Question or Issue

Smart shuffle works great when I initiate play from my laptop, but when I initiate it on my phone, it's like it has a "soul funk" filter applied and that's ALL it plays. What I consider to be funk makes up maybe 10% of my liked songs. It really seems like some sort of bug, but it's getting super annoying. Any suggestions?

Thank you for reaching out to the Community and welcome.

To start investigating this behavior, we'd first recommend logging out from the app on your mobile device and logging back in twice to see if it makes any difference as it forces the sync between your account and your device.

Also, would you mind confirming if the smart shuffle is suggesting the same genre in all of your playlists and liked songs?

Lastly, to make sure your device is running the latest version of the app, we'd recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app by following the steps in this article.

So on my phone, I logged out and back in twice. Now my laptop smart shuffle is all funk when playing my "Liked Songs", like my phone was. I've not tried Smart Shuffle on any other playlist.

Thanks for the response @Bob_Saget.

To test if it would make a difference in Liked Songs on both devices, please click on the minus button (-) next to some of the Funk songs, in order for Spotify not to recommend them anymore.

It would also be very helpful if you could have a look both on your phone and laptop at some other playlists and how Smart Shuffle works in them - if it recommends Funk or a particular genre.
