My Question or Issue

Hi all,

I have a question about loading coverart in Spotify.

I have made several playlist directories with playlists in it. So I basicly made playlists from entire cd's. In each directorie are about 50 playlists.

When I close and open Spotify again all covers are downloading again. So on iOS and Android these art needs to be downloaded.

On the iPhone when I:

- Delete the cache in Spotify

- Delete the storage in settings on the iphone

- Delete the app

- Install the app

- Sign in again

It seems that after these actoins all coverart is allready there.

It seems to be more logical, the covers are only one time downloading. But this is not happening.

Is there a way to solve this problem, a workaround or other way to sort data into spotify?

Could you send over a video where we can take a better look at this behavior? You can attach it to your next response or upload it to another platform like YouTube or Google Drive and send a link to it. Make sure to hide any personal or sensitive information, and to give it the relevant permissions if you decide to upload it somewhere else.

Also, make sure to let us know the exact Spotify app version currently running on the affected devices.

We'll be on the lookout.

This time you can try with attaching it via the Insert Video option in the post editor, or if the attachment's too big then you can upload the video to Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure it's got the correct viewing settings).

We checked it out and it looks like you've got a large library which seems to be causing this behavior with the loading of the images. When there are a lot of items saved, this impacts the app's optimal performance and could be expected, especially on some devices.

In your case, a clean reinstall is helpful on your iPhone, as it also includes clearing the cache (when it's corrupted it can cause different issues), however, we can't guarantee how much the app can handle smoothly and this depends on the specific device and setup. Ultimately, the more content the app has to deal with, the more the performance will likely degrade.

I just wanted to know, is it normal that spotify loads all covers when opening a playlist? Each time you shut down and launch the application?

Next thing. What is the best way to "store" cd's in a folder? I can imagine more users are experiencing this problem... And can you tell a bit more about optimzing folderstructure?

Yes, as mentioned, it would be expected for Spotify to take more time to load content (including cover art) when you've got a large library.

You could try splitting your playlists into more folders - so that each includes less number of playlists, however, we can't guarantee that this would reduce the loading time of the images as there would still be a lot of saved items in the library itself.
