Plan

Duo

Country

South Africa

Device

(iPhone 17

Operating System

(iOS 26) CarPlay and Windows (same problem across all devices)

My Question or Issue

I have a Duo Plan for my mother and me. When both of us are listening to Spotify, using our own profiles, the profiles seem to... merge. Suddenly I will hear a song playing that I've never heard before, so I change the song, or remove it from my playlist. My mother will see/hear the change I made on her profile. And vice versa.

This has been a problem for months now and it's really frustrating to the point where I stopped listening to Spotify for a few weeks.

Hi there @LadyMz,

Thanks for reaching out. We'll gladly help you use both accounts to the fullest.

Something like this happens when there's some mixup between the two accounts in the Duo plan. If one person starting a song interrupts the playback of another person, this means both are logged into the same account, which shouldn't be the case. As long as both of you use only your own respective accounts, then playback, playlists and everything else will remain separate.

To resolve this, the most surefire way is for both of you to log out of all devices (you can do this with the "Sign out everywhere" option here) and then log back in, making sure to use your own login details. This way you can both listen to whatever you like unimpeded.

Hope this helps.
