My AI DJ has disappeared from my spotify

My Question or Issue

I left the country a while ago, and my DJ was working perfectly but I got back 2 months ago, and my dj has not been available since I got back, even though my region settings are set to South Africa

Let’s try a few steps so we can solve this or narrow down the root cause of what’s causing your issue. First, please try a clean reinstall of the app following these steps. These steps are more thorough than the simple reinstall and can solve common issues.

If that doesn't work, can you let me know if you're able to access the DJ on another device, if possible? Also, make sure you're not using a VPN when opening the Spotify app to see if that makes a difference.

Spotify DJ also disappeared for me.
South Africa, Student premium, Android.
Reinstalling did nothing.

Thanks for your post! Can you let me know when this happened? Have you recently travelled with Spotify, or did this happen after an update? Also, I would like to confirm that you don't use a VPN as that may interfere with the functionality of the app?

Hi @Billy-J

The DJ disappeared after updating (reconfirming) my student status for my student premium account. I have not travelled nor used a VPN with Spotify.

I read elsewhere that the DJ feature was removed for students, which if true is honestly so stupid since the price for this plan increased by 60% in just the last three years.

Hey @allernext,

Thanks for the reply! I took a closer look and it looks like the AI DJ isn't available for the Student plan the moment. When selecting from one of the new plans (incl. the new Student plan), the DJ feature will only be available with a Premium Platinum plan, which is why you're not seeing it on your Student plan right now.

I am sorry this wasn't the news you were hoping for, however, I will make sure to pass your feedback on to the right folks as Spotify is always looking to improve.

Crying right now. I just reconfirmed my student status and just noticed that I am unable to use the DJ feature. This is really sad, I hope they will change it.
