My Question or Issue

My Spotify just updated.

I usually leave it open, changing playlists throughout the day, with the lyrics. That way, I can seee my playlists, add new musics to different ones and such, but this "update" has the lyrics covering the playlists and then FULLSIZING when I click at another window from the other monitor.

I'm autistic, I just want to see my playlists because I need it to change them when my mood changes, it being covered with no option to disable/prevent the forcer fullscreen is actually making me absurdely nervous and anxious because it is WRONG, bad and uncomfortable.

Please, add a toggle option of "lyrics overlay" or something, I want to see my playlists, I don't want it to cover my searchbar, playlists, song progression and EVERYTHING ELSE, I KNOW NO ONE ASKED FOR THIS, so please give me an option to opt OUT because it sucks, I hate it and it's making me nervous.

Please, I don't want to have to migrate to YouTube music, just fix this

Agreed, this update is absolutely awful and ruins the way I use both my sidebar and lyrics. Please restore the functionality and make this feature optional, Spotify.

I agree, this update is not an improvement. Spotify should give us at least the possibility to toggle between the old and the new UI.

I used to being able to see the playlists left sidebar while reading lyrics in the desktop app. Now, when I click the microphone to open the lyrics, the left panel disappears and the lyrics takes left and central space combined.

How to get the left sidebar to be always visible like it was before?

Previously, you used to be able to display the lyrics on the left side of the screen and see the canvas or video on the left. Now, clicking o n the lyrics button causes the lyrics to cover the entire window. It is no longer possible to have both the images and lyrics on the screen at the same time. The only things that can be displayed t the same time are the lyrics

What's also really annoying is that at the end of a sone, the lyrics disappear and you just get the one ofthe images again.

Is there a way to revert back to where the lyrics can stay up on the left and still have the images or art on the right?

The issue as I see it is that when the Spotify app is showing lyrics and is not the focus, it switches to this full screen mode - which hides the song information (among other things). When you make Spotify the focus, it is more functional and shows at least some of the information I need.
In other words, it's arrogance on the part of Spotify. "Why would you want to use your PC for something *other* than our app?!"

Please change it back ASAP! Or at least give us an option.

Thank you for replying, but I still need a solution for that. At least give us a toggle button to disable this, it is a very aggressive change that disrupts my daily use of it. Please, either reverse it or give us an option to disable.

Sometimes, I open full albuns I want to read the lyrics while distributing the songs I like between playlists, this isn't possible when the lyrics cover EVERYTHING. Please, fix this.

We need full revert of these changes or an option to disable them.

I know UX/UI designers have to do something to seem busy, workaholic and all these things to avoid getting fired for not doing anything, but if something ain't broke, for the sake of god, don't fix it. There are a lot of places where your work will be greatly appreciated, for example: this forum.

I 100% agree, I am not a fan of this update. It's a little buggy too, black screen occasionally when alt tabbing in and out of the program.

I'd be okay with this being an option, but not something hidden in the settings maybe, because I bet there are 3 or 4 people who actually like it, and consider it to be a good idea.

Agreed!! I neeeed to see my playlists on the side. It also made the lyrics wayyyy too huge. I always had my queue on the right, and my playlist thumbnails on the left, and it made the lyrics the perfect size.

Now with this terrible update not only can I not see my playlists, but the lyrics are also way too big and I can't make the queue side any larger to make the lyrics smaller. And changing the view size doesn't work either because that changes ALL text, so then everything else becomes too small if I make the lyrics the proper size.

Please give us a toggle for seeing our playlists on the left side. And if you're looking for updates to do, add custom sizing for text in different places, namely the lyrics.

Also another problem with this update, I have a trash PC so turning on and off lyrics is just laggier and soooo annoying. A "Reduce Motion" setting would be SO nice.

Also, the current song playing keeps disappearing while in that menu. It behaves more like a videoplayer. At this point, you could just watch YouTube videos...

Yeah, I also totally agree with the majority opinions here - I was very taken aback at what happened to the show lyrics button, and absolutely unhappy with it. Please revert the change as so many other users are requesting, it is completely unnecessary and definitely worse.

New changes to spotify lyrics UI

The new PC lyrics UI is so awful, why do the lyrics go away every time a new song comes on? Why remove the option to have artist information open at the same time as lyrics? why remove the bottom tray to pause or skip songs or change volume when lyrics are open? I'm considering moving to a different platform because this is pretty close to being unusable and there are definitely better and more ethical options.
