"not interested" button has disappeared

My Question or Issue

The "not interested" button has stopped showing up. Every time I open the app, my home page is full of racist garbage. It displays a category "video episodes for you", despite the fact that I have never and will never watch any video podcasts. For weeks now, the first thing showing up on my home page is ALWAYS racist right-wing vitriol. In the past I've used the "not interested" button to get some of this out of the way, but since I updated my app this button no longer appears in the menu.

PS. If anyone from spotify looks at this, don't just tell me to report these shows. That won't help--- your platform rules are way too lax with regard to hateful content.

Hi there! Thank you for bringing up the concern.

You’re not doing anything wrong. The “Not interested” option has been removed or hidden for many users as part of recent Home feed changes and testing. That’s why it suddenly disappeared after the update. It’s not device-specific and not something you can turn back on locally.

A few things that might reduce this content, even though none fully replace that button:

Tap the three dots on the show and choose Hide this show if that option still appears. It’s inconsistently available, but it does sometimes work.
Go to Settings > Content preferences and turn off Video podcasts where available. This doesn’t always apply retroactively, but it can reduce future recommendations.
Make sure you’re not following or auto-following any shows tied to those categories. Unfollow them explicitly if needed.

That said, your main point is valid. Removing user-level negative feedback while increasing algorithmic recommendations leaves people stuck with content they’ve clearly signaled they don’t want. Reporting shows doesn’t solve that, especially when the issue is recommendation logic, not just policy violations.

This is something Spotify really needs to address: users should be able to say “don’t show me this” without jumping through hoops. You’re far from the only person raising this concern.

If nothing else, upvoting similar threads helps keep it visible to Spotify staff.

Its suspicious...

Its always joe rogan, jordan peterson, and other toxic masculinity, misinformation, maga, and generally right wing content.

I get that they are popular but there's other podcasts in the top 40 list that could be showing up and they never do and I actually listen to and I'm subscribed to them.

Where's bad friends, ted talks, medias touch?

Spotify seems to prioritizing right wing political commentary.

I listened to one clip from a show/podcast for context and now its showing up on my "your shows" list and its sooo frusterating to me. I need them to bring back this feature now
