Incomplete classical track titles on iOS/iPadOS and sometimes macOS, while web shows full titles

Hello everyone,

I recently opened another thread describing an issue where composer information for classical music was no longer being displayed in the iOS and iPadOS apps:

https://community.spotify.com/t5/Your-Library/Composers-no-longer-showing-in-iOS-iPadOS-playlists-for/m-p/7432553#M69635

That issue appears to have been fixed, but a new one seems to have appeared very recently.

Basically, there are several classical albums where track titles are now displayed in an incomplete form in the iOS and iPadOS apps, and in some cases also in the macOS app. I will provide a few examples below, but I should point out that the issue does not seem to be limited to these specific albums. It appears to affect a broader, inconsistent range of classical releases.

This does not seem to be a simple visual truncation or screen-width issue. The apps appear to be displaying a shortened or incomplete version of the track title. In classical music, this is a serious problem, because a movement title such as “I. Allegro moderato” or “II. Andante espressivo” is not enough to identify the work being played. The full track title is necessary.

Example 1 — Scriabin: The Solo Piano Works

In the macOS app, the tracks are displayed with their full titles. The web version also displays them correctly.

However, in the iOS app, the track titles appear incomplete. In practice, only the movement indication is shown, without the name of the work to which each movement belongs. For example, there is no indication of “Piano Sonata No. 1”, “Piano Sonata No. 2”, and so on.

Example 2 — Bartók: Complete Works for Piano Solo, Vol. 1 – The Mature Bartók

In the web version, the track titles are displayed correctly and in full.

However, in the macOS app, the titles appear incomplete.

<img 8

In the web version, the tracks are shown with their full titles.

In the web version, and also in the macOS app, the tracks are displayed with their full titles.

However, in the iOS app, the track titles appear incomplete.

Overall, this seems to be inconsistent and unpredictable behavior. I do not know what could be causing it, but it significantly affects the listening experience, especially for classical music, where the work title is essential for identifying what is being played.

I would like the full track titles to be displayed consistently across all devices, as they were until recently.

Additional details:

iPad: iPad 10th generation
iPadOS version: 26.5
Spotify version: 9.1.48.1659

iPhone: iPhone 15
iOS version: 26.5
Spotify version: 9.1.44.2119

Mac: Mac mini M2
macOS version: 26.5
Spotify version: 1.2.90.451.gb094aab0

Thank you very much.

Have you at least notified the providers about the faulty metadata?

Classical metadata issue: Track titles incomplete, only showing movement markings

I’m seeing a major issue with classical track titles on Spotify. Across many releases, tracks are now displaying only the movement title instead of the full work title + movement title. For example, a track that should appear as something like “Symphony No. 2 in D Major, Op. 43: Allegro” may now only show as “Allegro” or “1. Allegro.” This makes classical music very difficult to browse, because movement markings like Allegro, Andante, Adagio, etc. are not meaningful without the parent work title.

This is especially problematic given Spotify’s playlist-forward model. When classical tracks are saved to playlists, mixed with other works, or viewed outside the context of the full album, titles like “Allegro” or “Andante” become impossible to identify. You can’t tell what piece you’re actually looking at while browsing a playlist. This appears to be happening across multiple classical labels and releases, so it does not seem to be an issue with one specific album or a metadata choice by one record label. It seems like Spotify may be displaying only the movement field/title rather than the complete classical track title. I spoke to someone at the BIS record label who said they were also concerned about this change happening across Spotify.

Could Spotify please investigate this as a classical metadata/display issue? It's very important that classical tracks display the full work title along with the movement title, as they did previously.

Plan

Premium

Before when I played these, the title was consistent across all windows (playlist on pc, now playing on pc, playist on mobile, now playing on mobile), however as of the last week this has changed so that "now playing" on mobile is different formatting - can this be changed back?

Hello, same it's happening on Android, it's really anoying, we need a fix. I mostly hear classical music, and if this issue doesn't have a solution I might consider moving to another app

It's a very serious problem for classical music listeners. If you are listening to a long album (a complete set of symphonies, for example) or - even worse - a playlist, it is impossible to navigate the contents. I know part of the problem is how te metadata are provided by the labels (it happens on Naxos, BIS, cpo, among others), but other platforms, as you can see from these pics, took care of the issue. See the very same album as visualized on Spotify, compared to some of the competitors.
