Issues with payment??

Hey, 

Forgot to cancel my subscirtion (3 months free) and I was charged 9.99 on my Paypal account. I have cancelled that subscription however, got an email from Paypal saying that there is insufficient funds in my paypal and bank to pay that. The question is, do I need to now put 9.99 onto my paypal account to pay this or has it already been payed??
