Someone has used my email without my knowledge

just tried to sign up to spotify today and i had trouble signing up. Anyway someone has used my email and i have a random username (that i don't want) all my details are different and there's a library with music in. I tried to create a new account but it won't let me because of one use email. what can i do? i don't really wanna keep this account

I came to post the same issue. I clicked "forgot password" and changed the password and information thinking they were probably never able to access it since the email was wrong (although I now realize I may have been mistaken).

So now I have control over the account but I don't know how to get my own username.
