21st century and can't change the name?

I'm a fresh user and after a few days of trying I found out that (probably) it's impossible to change the name that App uses to call the user.

Is that really the case?

And I'm not talking about that weird hash/id the spotify calls an username but I need to change the name the app welcomes you for example.

I'm a premium user with family plan, and now it seems that to change the name I can - and it's "as simple as that" - cancel the plan, remove the family members, create a new account and name it accordingly... Really? No simple functionality to just rename your user?

That is correct. If you want a profile that displays a different name, you can create a new account. During sign up, you can create any profile name you'd like.
