A smorgasbord of complete nonsense - Creating a Spotify account has become impossible

The problems are as follows.

 

1) I attempted to register earlier in the day and was told the username was taken, for every possible username variable that exists in the world

2) I try to register later in the day, only to be told that the email I was using was already registered (with the first username which refused to, or claimed not to, register earlier)

3) Great, I think to myself. Right? Wrong. The password I created / didn't create doesn't work.

4) I request a new password to the email address in question, only when I follow the reset link I'm told, immediately "You have been logged out for security reasons, please click the reset link in the email you recieved again to continue."

5) So I figure whatever, you must have sent me a dodgy reset link so I'll start the reset password process over again. Only, get this, when I try and request another reset password link the website tells me that "The email address you provided is not associated with an active Spotify account."

 

I'm being run around in circles here. I can't create an account with my email on account of Spotify tells me I have one(and I'm guessing that's correct, as the username for the account is as it was when I earlier attempted to join), I can't get a reset password link because the email I can't sign up with as it's already in use, supposedly isn't linked to any account...

 

I've tried this on several computers with several browsers, so I don't want to hear about problems on my end because it's not that. I don't understand how you can build a flawless program but can't even create a functioning website. It's weird.

I just created an account with a new email address to post this, by the way. But I don't want this account, I want an account with my proper email address.

 

 

It looks like whilst you were trying to create an account earlier in the day, one might have been 'half created' in the system for you by mistake. This would explain why you were told your email address was already in use.

 

Simply PM me the email address that you were using and I'll happily investigate. This kind of thing is usually easily sorted.

 

Sorry for the confusion. We're a Swedish company, but smörgåsbord shouldn't always be on the menu.

I have the exact same problem when trying to create an account for my wife. Tried two different email adresses but still no go. Should I PM her email to you as well or can we sort this out some other way?

But for anyone else who comes along with this issue - our contact form is the best way to go. I'm off on a two-week holiday soon and wouldn't anyone's issues to get missed during that time.
