Ability to pay for a year in advance for Spotify student, family, or duo account

My idea/suggestion:

Sorry, in advance for it being so long but skimming will also do the trick to get the idea of what you are voting for (by liking the post I believe) So right now you can't pay in advance for a year of Spotify duo, student or family account. You can't use a gift or any pre-paid card. But my suggestion is that the billing team make it so that when it gets renewed at the end of the period when you to verify or something like that is that you also send the verification email before that year-long price gets renewed for the discounted price whatever that may be. Then if it's not verified the yearly price would change to the normal monthly fee either the non-discounted yearly amount or the normal monthly amount until verified again. This could be a new plan option instead of using a Spotify gift card or other gift card method to avoid problems with having a gift card as a payment method but still be able to pre-pay for the account. This method would help the downside of not being able to buy a gift card to Spotify but instead, give the user the ability to still have some way to gift them the Spotify premium for the year. Essentially, some way to pre-pay for the year but the payment method can be not saved or only charged if they verify that they want to use the same payment method. This way it can still be a gift and not be used for something else. Having even that option to pre-pay for the year or up to 12 months and then having the option to only use the payment method once would be a good substitution for not being able to use a gift card and then verify the student status every year it would notify before either switching to normal price as it would for a student account normally or auto canceling if a payment method and verification of student status are not updated. Notice: If this gets enough likes they will look into it so hopefully you guys will like my idea! (about 36 likes)

I've seen now countless responses to customers who request that yearly payment would better suit them, convenience, financially etc. All with the same - I'm sad to see - non answer. Plenty of global companies offer options of payment frequency and I'm disappointed to see Spotify has no option or decent response on when, and why they offer yearly subscription or not. Not listed on this board from what I can see, not on the website.

 

This is quite frustrating and unclear for customers, me included, and I urge there to be an annual subscription option in future. The annual subscription would be of great value to subscribers and to the company in giving them satisfaction, rather than not incorporating feedback on this issue right?

Btw: "Changes to pricing, subscriptions, or the content available are specific to each market worldwide; Spotify cannot influence those." I would argue that subscriptions are indeed influenced and decided by Spotify?

 

Further, why is Spotify unable to offer this subscription model in some regions and not others? Some more information to explain would surely help customers more?

 

If we can't suggest yearly subscription here, where do you suggest? As I'm sure 100s if not 1000s of your customers would choose this option and be happier subscribers for it 🙂
