Account continually getting hacked/hijacked

Account continually getting hacked/hijacked

My Spotify account keeps getting hacked/hijacked. For the past month, when I am listening to Spotify on my phone or on Amazon Tap, Spotify will stop and then play a random song I didn't pick. I'll look on my iPhone, and it'll say something like "Continue listening on Sam's Android?" . Problem is, I'm not Sam and I don't have an Android!  This sort of battle will continue all day, where I try to play a song, and it'll stop and play another song instead.

I don't understand why this is happening. I tried changing my Facebook account because I thought that was hacked, but that didn't solve it. I have secure wifi at my home, and I don't understand how my Spotify continually gets hijacked by another user. The other user also keeps deleting my playlists.

I have already reached out to Spotify to see if I can unlink my Facebook account, and swtich to a normal login.  I wanted to see if anyone else has had this issue solved.  This is very frustrating, and making me want to quit Spotify completely.

Hey @seanc06,

The best course of action when something like that happens is to create a new account with a different email address from the one you're using (Tip: don't use the one you use for Facebook). That will give you a different Spotify username of your choice.

Once you have this new account, fill out the contact form, and someone from Spotify will be happy to help you migrate your Premium privileges, library, playlists, friends, etc. to this new account.

Connected devices stay with the old account, so you'll have a fresh start without them.

Hope it helps. 🙂
