My Question or Issue
Yesterday I wanted to disconnect my spotify account from my facebook. So I deleted the acces with facebook from the account settings. However when I logged back in this morning my name was changed to: 1170240794. I found out that my facebook cant be disconnected from spotify when its made with facebook so I kind of want my normal name back. How can I fix this?
Thank you in advance
Check out my topic. I have a similar problem. I don't think that there is a solution.
I don't think the problem is the same since my facebook account is not banned. I was just trying to unlink it via the account settings. Without thinking I clicked remove acces (look attachment). In facebook I still can see all my friends and they can see me but now my name is a number. Is there anyway I can reconnect to my facebook so that my name is restored
The thing is my friend got a Spotify acc ban, not a facebook one. And it looks like when you create new Spotify acc, you can't change your nickname. They give you a random nickname which is always a set of numbers. It's really strange, as I see my friend's new account as NO in my friend activity section. Try to make a new account for the sake of the experiment.
Hey @OakSorcerer.
Thanks for getting in touch!
Could you login on the website and go to Privacy Settings? Check if you have opted out of Spotify processing your Facebook data. When you opt out there, it keeps your account usable but it will stop using a lot of data, for example your name. You can read here what information exactly. Log in on your Facebook profile as well and make sure that you have granted Spotify access to your personal information, for example your friends list.
If that's not possible due to the connection being broken entirely, you'll need to create a new account. No worries, if you make sure your music collection is stored in public playlists, you can visit your old account with your new account and grab all your songs from there. You’ll be able to visit your old account by putting the following string in the search bar: spotify:user:username
Don't forget to replace username with your own username, which is the number you see. Oh and by the way, If you want to use the same email address for your new account, you'll have to close your old account. You'll have 7 days to visit your old account and find your music there. You’ll also need to cancel your subscription on your old account, in case you have a Premium account.
We hope you'd like to try this! It's a lot quicker than it might seem. Let us know if you have further questions.
Have a nice day.
