Account

Hi👋

So I wanted to change my username and the only option that makes sense is to create a new account I guess.

So my question is: I saw you can contact spotify for them to transfer your playlists, but will my "interests" stay the same? For example Daily/Weekly/Release Radar Playlists, will they be about the same on my new as on my old account after transfering? Or will I have to start "reshaping" them again by listening to the music I like? That would kinda suck

Hi there @CHICKENnuggetsBro,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community.

Your username is designed to identify you on Spotify, so you can't change it or decide what the username will be.

However it's possible to pick your display name. A display name replaces the username where it shows on your profile, app, and playlists.

Note: You can’t use your display name to log in.

This is how you change your display name on a mobile or tablet:

  1. Tap Home Home icon
  2. Tap Settings Settings icon
  3. Tap View profile.
  4. Tap EDIT PROFILE.
  5. Tap your display name to change it.
Tip: You can also add or change your profile photo here.
  6. Tap Save.

This is how you change your display name on the desktop version:

  1. Click Down arrow icon in the top-right corner.
  2. Select Profile.
  3. Click on your profile name and edit the details.
  4. Click SAVE.

When it comes to your created playlists, you'll have to build them up from scratch on the new account even though you transfer your playlists from the old account to the new one.

We hope this information was helpful.

Let us know if you have any further questions 🙂

Take care!
