Are monthly payments in advance or not?

Are monthly payments in advance or not?

My monthly payment for my subscription has always been charged from my credit card. This happens near the end of the month.

I wonder whether this is an advance payment or not.

I want to know since I recently changed my subscription for premium to family. When doing so I had to fill in my bank account.

Now it happens that my latest monthly payment was charged on my credit card at the end of december, while in january  my bank account was charged as well. Am I charged twice? Or was the payment by credit card  at the end of december for the month december and by bank account  in january for  january? In the latter case it means the payment would have shifted from end to start of the month. If not than I am charged twice.

Many thanks for any insights.

Hi there!

You are prepaid for the service every month. When you switch to Family, you are only charged the difference in the account price based on the time that you've used.

Here's the link to Family Q&As with your question answered below.

I'm already on a Premium subscription. What happens when I upgrade?

If you're already a Premium user, don't worry! We won’t bill you until the time you’ve paid for has run out, taking into account the increased price. You can review your renewal date on the subscription page.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I am still a little worried. In December my credit card was charged on the 27th. In January my bank account on the 13th, and my subscription page states the next billing will be at the 5th of February. The latter should than be the prepayment for March. Why so early and much earlier than previously? I am afriad something is going wrong here due to the fact that my previous billing was done with my credit card account, an option that was not provided when I signed up for family, so I had to fill in my bank account.

I can wait till the end of the month, but if my credit card is charged again it will be double charging for sure.

Hey there @lion4!

I completely understand your concern and would possibly be concerned too if I wasn't expecting it. You should be good to go, but if after the payment period passes, you get a second charge, go ahead and reach out to Spotify Support.

They can be reached through their Twitter Handle @SpotifyCares, Facebook Page Spotify Cares, or through the online contact form.

If you submit the contact form instead of the Twitter or Facebook Message, make sure to check your inbox and junk folder for an email from Spotify.
