Badge Spam

Solved!

Badge Spam

Just received a bunch of emails telling me that I've been awarded badges for being here 2 years, 1 month, 1 week, etc.

Bug in your system?

Hi there!

It isn't a bug, they're introducing a badges system, so you received these mails because they introduced these badges today.

Of all the dumb ways to implement a dumb idea, this has to be the dumbest!

Seriously - why send so many automated emails? Utterly pointless.

Just recieved one of these myself for being with them 24 hrs.........................I've been with them 3 years. Daft.

Just checked my account and, yes, all the badges are there, all sent a couple of hours ago. I can expect a load of emails then. Great.

Ah, I thought it was odd to get a' registered for one year' badge within 10 minutes of a ' registered for one year ' badge... Because that makes perfect sense!

Make that 1 week. We'll it is a Friday night...

I have disabled these notifications in my preferences but the e-mails still keep coming.

Poor implementation as usual to have them sent out at all upon deployment of this badge feature.

I've asked a community manager to look into the email notifications to see if there is a problem. Hopefully this can be solved.

these badges seem to have bloated my iOS verizon data -- ??

don't see the need for an LMS academic badge system --but whatever.

however, my iOS data usage spiked at 4GB?@@! at 6am today...while sleeping. that's 4GB at a single data check in. bizarro.

the first of 5 'badge notifications' started rolling in at 5am.

check yourself...i'm still researching this

I cannot.

I had opted out of all email notifications but keep also getting spammed with these badges.   Not cool Spotify.

The manager of the community is currently talking to "Lithium" so they can fix it. Lithium is the company that runs the backend for the community.

I am a little bit afraid the scout master will get mad if I sew them to the wrong place on my uniform.  Won't Mom and Dad be proud though, to see thier child so decorated with acheivement.

If the badges don't come with discounted service or something, I would hope you enable a way to turn this stuff off.  Not only do I not want to be bothered by these notifications, I don't necessarily care how long I have been using the system for.

Did you guys get this idea from Steam?  I am guessing an interen in your marketing department got bored and was gaming... then they were so bored they decided it would be a good idea to put loyalty badges in a music streaming system.

Do you guys have that much money?  Maybe you could pass that back to the loyal customers, rather than pay code monkeys to implement useless ideas.  I suppose its a way to keep people occupied and employed during the slow season.

Thanks!

Even better, I just got another badger for replying to this post about badges! Yippie!
I am going to run out of room on my shirt soon and I'll have to get one of those tacky sashes like the older kids.

All seriousness aside, I would like to keep the email notifications I had ON and just not receive notifications about this lame idea. Can I turn off the badge system and not the entire notification system? It would be really nice to not have to turn off a part of the service I like, after being a loyal customer for so long, just to stop having my phone beep at me about being a loyal customer.

Would it be possible to disable any notifications for those badges. I have no interest for them, but whenever I go on the forum, the number next to notifications tell me I have some new notifications and then it's just about those badges. I can't figure out how to disable all messages for those badges. I've managed to disable the email notifications, but would like to get rid of the notification here as well.
