Bought an e-card for someone in another country.

Bought an e-card for someone in another country.

I did this last year as well, as it was to the same person. I'm in Norway, she's in New Zealand, and it worked perfectly that time around.

But this time around, she was greeted with a message saying the code couldn't be redeemed because we weren't in the same country.

I did see this when I was buying the e-card too, but I couldn't find any posts about in here on the forums.

Is there any way for her to redeem the code? With the world moving in a more friendlier way to interact with people abroad, why would you revert to only letting e-cards be redeemed by someone in the same country as you?

Hey! Welcome to the community 🙂

eCards can only be redeemed in the country they are purchased in, I am guessing to stop people purchasing eCards using other currencies making it cheaper (since if you consider it, here in the UK we pay £9.99 which is >$15 and just under 12 euroes).

The best thing to do is to get in touch with the customer services team directly using the online contact form and see if they can swap that for a valid one for you.

If you get an automated email reply back directing you to the community or help pages, you need to reply directly to that email (even if its from no-reply) and one of the customer services agents will get back to you as soon as possible.

Hi Peter,

Thanks for shedding light on this subject. I was just about to purchase two annual subscriptions for a person in Canada and Portugal.

Could you advise if its possible to do so? as from previous correspondence it seems that one is only able to gift a person in their home country and not abroad. Appreciate the help. I am based in Norway

Very poor solution from Spotify
