My Question or Issue

One day I was logged out of the spotify app on my mac, and I've been unable to log back in since.  My username and password (and logging in with facebook) works on the spotify website and the iPhone app, but not on the desktop.  When I type it in and hit "log in", the screen dims and I can't click on anything, and nothing happens.  When I click "log in with Facebook", the same thing happens.  This is super frustrating- I've redownloaded the app at least 3 times, I don't have any firewalls, I haven't left the country... any help would be super appreciated.

UPDATE:

I redownloaded it again, and now when I try to log in I get the message "A firewall may be blocking spotify. Please update your firewall to allow spotify.  Additionally you could try changing the current proxy settings (Error code: 39)".  I do not have a firewall, I am not using a proxy, I have not left the country.  HELP

I successfully logged into my account on a desktop app on someone else's computer, but I couldn't on my computer on different wifi.

Hey there @pronouncedkeera,

Since you're having troubles logging in only from this desktop device, this could be a device-related issue. In this case, could you make sure that your device is up to speed with any firmware or software updates?

Once you've updated your device, make sure to perform a clean reinstall of the app once more.

Let us know how it goes 🙂

(windows users possible fix)

Hey, this always happens for lots of users who just downloaded and install fresh, as there is no access through the Windows firewall to connect to your internet connection.

so all you have to do is run the app as an administrator and when the app loads up just tick both public and private network access and click ok when the windows network firewall prompt window appears in front.

this will fix the issue most of the time.

keep running it in admin mode if it does the same thing again.

better to tick run as admin in the compatibility section in the properties menu of the ( .exe ) file

hope it gets fixed

enjoy it, if it does get fixed. bye.......
