If you want to change your current subscription to a Premium Family plan as an owner, we'd recommend changing the type of subscription from your Account page. Just hit the link and click the option Change plan under Your plan section. The system will not take any payments for changing your plan, but the next charge would be earlier because of the difference between prices.

In case you paid your subscription with a third party carrier, you'll need first to cancel your current subscription with them, and then apply for the Premium Family plan.

However, if you want to join a Premium Family plan as a member, you just need to accept the invite from the owner and the subscription will be automatically changed to Premium Family.
