Can I make my playlist 'anonymous'?

Can I make my playlist 'anonymous'?

Hi all,

I once made a playlist and it accidentally became pretty popular. Of course, I don't mind people following the playlist because I want everyone to enjoy the collection of music, but I do mind composers sending me friend requests and messages on Facebook asking me to add their music to my list. At first, I wasn't too bothered by it, but these kind of requests and messages have become too frequent now.

So, my question is: can I make the playlist 'anonymous'? Don't get me wrong; I want the playlist to remain public, but I'd like to get my name off of it.

Cheers.

Hey @egdrws, thanks for writing.

Yes, you can make it a secret playlist. Right click on its title and then "Make Secret".

Alternatively you can copy all songs (CTRL + A) and paste them to a new, secret playlist that only you (and the ones you send the link to) will have access.

Then you won't be bothered anymore 🙂

Hi folks,

Thought I'd jump in here to post some info about Playlist Privacy, as these settings have changed over time.

You can find out how to add or remove playlists from your public profile in this Support Article.

You can also click on the 3-dot menu on any of your playlists and select Make Private. Note that this is currently only available on Mobile.

This option:

  • Hides playlist from the other user's profile
  • Removes playlist from search
  • Hides a playlist from all other users’ libraries
  • Denies access to other users
  • It will hide all the followers/likers and collaborators (if collaborative) on that playlist
  • Once the playlist has been made public again, the followers will be re-enabled

Unfortunately, there is no way to remove your name from the playlist.

Hope you find this info helpful 🙂
