Can I use Spotify for my events as background music?

Hi, I work for a church and would like to play Spotify as background music for our events. I have read the terms and see that it must be for personal use only. With that being said, is there an option that I am unaware of that I could use instead of a basic premium account?

Thank you for your help!

Hey @mergehsm,

Welcome to Spotify Community!

Unfortunately, you are not allowed to use Spotify at public events. Here is the part of EULA that covers this question:

8 User guidelines

The following is not permitted for any reason whatsoever:

  • copying, redistributing, reproducing, “ripping”, recording, transferring, performing or displaying to the public, broadcasting, or making available to the public any part of the Spotify Service or the Content, or otherwise making any use of the Spotify Service or the Content which is not expressly permitted under the Agreements or applicable law or which otherwise infringes the intellectual property rights (such as copyright) in the Spotify Service or the Content or any part of it;

As event organizer, I can give you a tip to check with local copyright collecting agency. You can find most of them here.

Another tip: You can play Royalty-Free Music ( Bach, Mozart, Beethoven etc. ) without paying any fees, but I am not 100% sure if you can play it though Spotify Service using the Local Files option.
