My Question or Issue

I have my Spotify account linked to my work email, but I have just been made redundant. I am unable to change to my personal email, as Spotify tells me there is an account linked to this. I have tried logging in with my personal email address in order to delete this account, but when I do, I'm told there is no account associated with this email address. How do I get Spotify to accept my personal email address - which apparently isn't linked to an account - when it thinks it's linked to a non-existent account?

Hi @MartynipKnox!

You should be able to change your account's email address from your Spotify account page. Even if you don't have access to the email, you should still be able to log in using it and the right password.

Thank you for replying. The problem I have is that I can't reset my password for the account under my personal email address, because I receive a message telling me there's no account associated with it. But if I try to change the account associated with my work email to my personal email it tells me there's already an account associated with that email address. So it appears my personal email address is both associated with another account, and not associated with another account. It's the Schroedingers Cat of email addresses.

Thanks for your reply. I understand the odd behavior now. Can you try having a password reset with your personal email to see if it lets you create a new password and log in with it? If that doesn't work, it's possible that the account linked to your personal email was disabled. In that case, I'd recommend checking out this Support article for the next steps to take.
