Can't change password, Spotify complains that my email address is already in use...

Solved!

Can't change password, Spotify complains that my email address is already in use...

I'm trying to change my password but when I click Save Profile, it ends up highlighting the email address field and stating "Another account is already registered with this email address".  I didn't even touch that field, why would that happen?  I'm not trying to change my email address and it's the same as when I first signed up.  Very frustrating.

Hey @ltcarter47 ! Welcome to the community 🙂

This happens when you accidentally have two Spotify accounts in the system, normally one with a Spotify username and another via Facebook both registered to the same email address. You might not even be aware of it!

You will need to get in touch with the customer services team directly using the online contact form and they will be able to remove the extra account for you, so you can then change your password.

If you get an automated email reply back directing you to the community or help pages, you need to reply directly to that email (even if its from no-reply) and one of the customer services agents will get back to you as soon as possible.

Alternatively, if you prefer support via Twitter, please tweet @SpotifyCares.
