Can't change profile settings

Can't change profile settings

Every time I try to change my profile settings. Spotify comes back with an error that states my email is already associated with another account. I do not own more than one Spotify account and there should only be one account for my email.

hankinspotify - Welcome to the Community! Looks like you did have two. Don't worry, I've just deleted the (unused) account, so you shouldn't have any more trouble. Just use your 'hankinspotify' username and Spotify password.

Hello there, I don't know if it's appropriate to reply in this dated message, but I am having the same problem. Spotify won't let me change my profile settings because the e-mail adress is already taken.

Same here.
I'm a bit curious about it though because it seems that the reason for my other email to be in use is because it is on a facebook account linked to spotify. Up until a few minutes ago it was linked to my own account but now it should be unlinked. Odd right?
And shouldn't I be able to set the same email for both my spotify account and facebook account if they are linked?

 

Either way, It would be much appreciated if I could be able to change my email address.

I'm trying to update my email on my account but it says that the email is already active on a different account. Thus, I tried to use the "Forgot Password" tool and typed in my email but then it says there is no active account with my email? Please help. Thank you

Hi, I was trying to change my password today. But I get the same issue ("Another account is already registered with this email address.") when I try to change it.

 

What up? Can some admin help me out?

@ubbekongo - That error message generally means you have a ghost/duplicate account in the login system, its an annoying issue caused by using the same email address on your Spotify as you do for Facebook and having a Spotify account tied to your Facebook too (which you may not have been aware exists). 

 

You will need to get in touch with the customer services team directly using the online contact form and they will be able to remove the extra account for you which will then allow you to make the change.

If you get an automated email reply back directing you to the community or help pages, you need to reply directly to that email (even if its from no-reply) and one of the customer services agents will get back to you as soon as possible.

Hey Peter,

 

I was in Hongkong when I set up my Spotify account but have gone on to tour europe (and used spotify once in London). I am currently in China (with VPN access) right now but I cant seem to change my country to China. I have just gotten here and I do not have a credit card in China. I am a free user. Please help. Thank you so much.

@foolished - Spotify is not available in China which is why you can't change your country over to China. If you wish to continue using your account there for more than 14 days you will need to subscribe to Spotify Premium using a payment method from another country where Spotify is available.
