My Question or Issue

My friends went through my Spotify and played and saved songs to my Library that I don’t like. Now my daily mixes have a bunch of songs by those artists and it’s bothering me. I decided I want to start fresh on Spotify so I closed my account to make a new one. However, when I tried to sign up for a new account it said my email was being used on Spotify even though I closed my account. My only option is to reactivate my old account. Why is this so?

To answer your last question, a way which would allow you to use Spotify with your original email address without waiting would be the following:

  1. create a new email address in order to open a new Spotify account with it
  2. wait until your original email address is newly available and then associate it with the new account you created

Thanks for reaching out about this here in the Community.

 

As a heads-up, it might take up to 30 days for an email address to be newly available and used to create a Spotify account if this email was previously associated with another account which got closed. 

 

To avoid waiting, you can create a new Spotify account with a different email address.

Thank you for your help. Unfortunately, I only have one personal email address so I can’t create a new account with a different one. However, I don’t know if I can go that long without Spotify.. is there a way around this?
