Cancel without password

Hi,

A while ago I gifted a spotify subscription to my father in law. After a little over two years he decided that he no longer uses spotify often enough to warrant the subscription price. Unfortunately he doesn't remember his credentials and when he tries to recover the credentials there is mentioning of a facebook account that he doesn't remember linking (he is not the most computer savy). 

How do I cancel the premium subscription without knowing the credentials? If all else fails I guess I could just remove the authorization in paypal and let the payments fail but I wonder whether there is a more elegant way.
