I took the one-month trial of the Premium account, and the week prior to renewal I cancelled it, as the Free account is OK for me.
Some days later I received a surprise email thanking for the renewal (?!?). I again canceled the renewal using the web (which BTW asks you a dozen confirmations in order to cancel the renewal), and again received the confirmation email (this day was the renewal day, so just on the limit).
Unless I get a clarification from Spotify in 24h, will kindly ask Amex to reject the billed amount.
Any mods here from Spotify to clarify my situation?

It's solved now. They refunded me and now I'm back to Free account.

@lindamaire It's been quite awhile since your post. Did you check your account overview to make sure your subscription was canceled? If it's not canceled you can do so here. If you would like to get in contact with the payments team, you can do so through the online contact form. They'll be able to take a look at what happened exactly.
