Cannot stop banner music Premium desktop for OSX

When I select Browse/Discover in Spotify desktop, on mac, a banner loads on the top and for some reason, the advertised song starts to play from the banner, while spotify keeps playing what it was playing. I cannot stop the banner's music, so I have to restart the app and hope the banner will not show up again. I am a premium user.

Now my question is

- why do I get banners?

- why is it starting automatically?

- why cant it be stopped?

Hey @munaw thanks for posting in the Spotify Community! 

Would you be able to check the status of your account when logged in just to check that it's still coming up as a premium user? You can check here.

If not then perhaps there's a duplicate account that has appeared somehow, have a check through your Spotify Premium receipts in your email or texts to see if you can grab a username from it (if you signed up through facebook it'll be a 10 digit number).

If it is coming up as premium but you're still seeing ads I'd perhaps try a fresh install to see if that helps. Here's a helpful FAQ on that.

Hey @Bearfootrecords, thank you for your reply. I have "Premium for Family" membership and I have just installed spotify on a new laptop. I also had this problem on my other laptop. Both of them are working in premium mode (no ads during music, I can select any song), as I am premium for a while. It looks more like some program error with the loader script of the banner. Do banners supposed to show up for premium users? My user name is munaw in spotify as well.

No, I don't think that's normal. If you're logged in as a premium user in that case and full re-install of the app hasn't helped out then I'd suggest finding some technical support from Spotify Care, who you can reach on this contact form, facebook or their twitter.
