Change from PREMIUM to FAMILY to FREE

Change from PREMIUM to FAMILY to FREE

Dear fellow spotifyers,

I changed my account from PREMIUM to FAMILY, then I invited two users.
Then I read that you first need to unsubscribe your premium, wait till your prm days are over, and then create your familiy group.

So I changed my account from FAMILY to PREMIUM followed by changing it to FREE.

When I check my spotify account I see: Your spotify subscription ends on 26-06-2016.

But when I check Premium for family I see the two people I invited.

(When one of them checks his account he sees that he is part of the family group.

Is everything correct, or do I get charged two times now ?

Hi @stephan404,

Actually you don't have to unsubscribe your Premium account to get the Family Plan. See this extract from the Spotify Support:

I'm already on a Premium subscription. What happens to my billing when I become a Premium for Family admin user?

When you upgrade your subscription from regular Premium to Premium for Family, any remaining time that you've already paid for will be converted into a Premium for Family subscription, so this can bring your next payment date forward. You can review your renewal date on the subscription page.

I've been invited to join Premium for Family, and I already have a Premium subscription. How is my billing affected when I join?

When you accept the invite, you're added to Premium for Family straight away. You won't be charged for your account any further - your payments are handled by the plan owner. Any Premium time you have remaining will resume if you leave Premium for Family.

If I understand right, your Family Plan will expire on June 26th. You may reactivate it if you don't want to revert to Free.

does that mean if I change from premium to family today, when I am halfway through my subscription, that half of my payment will go towards my family payment?

Hi @gwaiigirl,

This means that you'll lose any remaing time from your regular Premium subscription. So my advice is that you upgrade to the Family plan a few days before your regular Premium is over 🙂
