Change premium account to student account

I am a student but i have the main premium account that charges 9.99 instead of the student discount at 4.99. How do I get my account changed to the student discount?

I haven't used the student plan myself but I suggest you take a look here first to see if you're usee the student plan: https://support.spotify.com/us/learn-more/faq/#!/article/us-student-discount-faq

If you are, my understanding is that after you have signed up for the student plan it will kick in at your next subscription renewal.

I saw on one of the links that you have to switch you account to a free account them signup for premium student. I just dont want to loose all my playlists when switching to a free account. 

Any ideas?
