Change the Country - blocked - but why?

Change the Country - blocked - but why?

I did change the country from AT to CH when Spotify did not accept my Swiss credit card (I live in AT and work in CH). This worked for Spotify Premium Family but then my family was not able join although they live at the same address in AT like me but their country at Spotify is Austria and not Switzerland. Then my wife ordered Spotify Premium Family but now I'm not able to join because for Spotify I am Swiss. So we cannot reside at the same location, Spotify says. This all came up because Spotify still does rely on geo-blocking like others did 5-10 years ago. How can I change the country in my profile back to AT? It is greyed out.

Hey @borisziegler,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community and welcome. We moved your post from Chats to the help boards as its content fits better here.

For security purposes, the country of your account and your payment method must match. When you update the payment details, your account will automatically change to the country where your payment method is located.

However, since one of the requirements of a group plan (Duo/Family) is to live on the same address, if the accounts has different countries registered, the system will not recognize the location and will give an error message.

If you're a Premium subscriber and want to change the country of your account, we'd recommend canceling your subscription, wait until your account goes back to free and change the country with the steps mentioned in this article.

But keep in mind that you need to be located in the country you want to register for the system to give you the option. If you're not physically located in that country, the system will just show you the current country.

Hope this helps. If you have any additional questions, don't hesitate to ask.
