Why is my username like random numbers and words even tho I make a clear username. I make it like this: timothyisaac . But the results are random numbers and words.

Hey @timothyisaac,

As Spotify looks to improve the overall experience, they’re now automatically generating usernames, hence the random letters and numbers.

You don’t need to remember this to log in. You can access your account with your email address and password.

During signup, you were able to personalize your account by creating a profile name that’s displayed in the app. There are no limitations to a profile name, so you were able to choose any name you like 🙂

Note: It's not possible to log in with the profile name.

So, can my friends search my username?

They sure can.

All they have to do is enter spotify:user:[your username (not your display name)] into their Search field in the app.

So they can't search using my username: timothyisaac ?

If your profile gains some popularity, they'll be able to find your profile by your display name as well. 🙂
