Changing account emails

I signed up for the Family Premium package last week using my gmail account.  However, I now understand it is best to use my Facebook log-in info (linked to my hotmail account) so I can share music with my kids, etc.  So I tried changing my registration to my hotmail account but it seems I must have created a free account using that long ago.  How do I resolve this problem?
