Hi there, 

 

I'm an American university student, and last semester I studied abroad in Italy. Halfway through my stay in the country, my spotify stopped working and told me I had to update to the premium pricing for Italian residents because they did not have the student discount there. So to keep my account accessible, I updated my account to the Italian setting. Now I've been back in the US for 6 months and have been paying Italian pricing the whole time, because there genuinely is no possible way to update the country via my account. The instructions listed on the website are completely defunct. Steps 3 and 4 say to: 'Click UPDATE DETAILS.' and to' Click ‘…’' for more options to access more information, however these buttons simply do not exist on either the spotify web player or the spotify app. The only option I have available is to cancel my subscription entirely. I have paid an extra $90 since getting back to the US and I simply cannot afford the service anymore at this rate. PLEASE HELP.

Hey @sannasharp! Sorry to hear that you've been having some issues with your location settings. Fortunately, getting this resolved should be fairly straightforward. The first step is going to be canceling your current premium subscription. The location of a premium user is determined by the location and the type of payment used at the time of subscription. In your case, this was in Italy with an Italian credit card.

 

When you cancel, so long as you have time remaining on your plan, you do not need to worry about losing any offline tracks. Canceling a subscription merely prevents you from being charged the following month; you retain everything you currently have, so long as you still have some premium time left.

 

Once you've done that, simply re-enroll with a US credit card and your account will switch over to an American account. Note that if you're still a university student, and haven't used the student discount for a total of four years, you might still qualify for that.

Well I cancelled my subscription, now I have to wait until it's up to renew it and change the country I guess? Cuz it still won't let me change it now.
