Hi, I've been using Spotify premium the past few months and intended to cancel today so that I wouldn't be charged tomorrow. But when I went to cancel it, Spotify had already charged me for next month. If I had known Spotify occasionally charges early, I would have canceled the suscription days ago. I don't want to cancel it now since I don't want to just flush ten dollar down the drain, but I also don't know if I should stick with it and risk potentially not getting a refund for this.
My question is if Spotify is good about refunding this kind of thing or not. I technically haven't used the service they charged me for so if I cancel it now, would they return the money or not?
Solved! Go to Solution.
When Spotify charges, a month of service is added to your account. Even if you cancel, those 30 days of premium will still be accessible because you have paid for them.
I suggest you cancel the subscription now, DO NOT LOGIN and use the premium, and wait for them to reply back. Support will decide if you can get a refund, but if you don't use the premium, the chances are higher.
I suggest you contact support so they can help you

If you get an automated reply email telling you to check the help section or the community, you need to reply back to it, even if it's from a no-reply address.
Support usually replies within 24-48 hours.
I did. Unfortunately, that will be past the window of opportunity I'm asking about. I just want to know if Spotify is good about refunding this sort of thing and if I can get the money back if I cancel now (since I doubt that will be possible if I cancel tomorrow - after I've heard back from customer support).
I just want to know how Spotify typically handles this so I know how to proceed from here.

I assumed that whenever you canceled your subscription was when your premium ended, not at the end of the month. The more you know.
To answer my own question, Spotify was quite kind and quickly refunded the money. For anyone in the future in this situation, follow MattSuda's advice and Spotify will be helpful.
Thanks, all!
Glad you got it taken care of!
