Charged for premium subscription straight after free trial without warning of trial end date

I had a free trial of premium but I was then charged 9.99 without being asked if I'd like to carry on using the service. Is this normal? I replied stop straight after I received a text saying I've been charged. I'm not really sure what the benefits of premium are!

It says when you use the trial, that you can't cancel until one month later (when the trial ends) so I guess that's normal. With spotify premium you can listen to any song, anytime, download tracks, stream in better audio quality, no more ads and get a weekly playlist, with songs you might like
