Closing Account while changing email

Recently, I closed my account (which I immediately regretted) and under the "account overview" section on the Spotify website, it displayed my email with the extension ".deactivated" or something of that sort. I then went into the profile editor and substituted that supposedly deactivated email with a secondary email.

When logging into the desktop launcher, my account was fine with all my data still intact.

My question is: Regarding this situation, is this a loophole in closing accounts, is there a termination period where accounts are still active after a period of time when choosing to close the account, or is this something entirely different?

It may take around 7 - 10 days for your account to be permanently deleted.
