Connecting to Facebook-Impossible?

Hi all,

 

I cannot, for love nor money, connect my Spotify account to Facebook.

 

I've been Googling and following various bits of advice and suggestions from people saying they've found the answer, but nothing works.

 

My Spotify email address is different to the one I use to log in to FB with-is that the issue?

 

What happens is that if I go File>Connect to Facebook from with the Mac client, a small black box opens up within Spotify, quickly followed by Safari opening up to a blank Spotify webpage (won't let me post URL here) with the word "OK" in the top left corner.

 

 

I go back to the Spotify client and the black box is still there, so I close it but I'm still not connected to Facebook.

 

Please, for the love of all that's holy, can someone help me with this (simple?) task?

Try downloading the new version that was just announced: 

https://news.spotify.com/2015/02/26/desktop-with-lyrics-musixmatch/

Mac: http://download.spotify.com/beta/SpotifyInstaller.zip
PC: http://download.spotify.com/beta/SpotifySetup.exe

It should be working in the new version.

You may notice a few features are missing in the new version and Spotify hopes to bring some of those back in a future update.
