Credit card hack?

The ONLY dealings I have in Sweden are with Spotify where my credit card information resides for monthly payments.  Well, it appears as though that information is being shared with others as noted below.  What steps are being taken to identify and correct the problem?

Hey @12mile, welcome to the Community.

Hope you're doing great!

It doesn't look like an amount done to Spotify based on the amount of it.

Also, I'd suggest to talk to their credit card provider or bank.

Hope it helps :)

Thanks for the suggestion but......

The dollar amount itself is nothing to do with Spotify. The issue is that
my credit card is used for a monthly payment to Spotify and other than
that, I do not have any dealings in Sweden. The fact that unauthorized
charges to another company in Sweden appear on my card leaves Spotify's
credit card security suspect and it certainly is not the first time as well
documented on the internet.

Hey there @12mile,

Thanks for posting about this in the Community!

Keep in mind that Spotify cares deeply about the safety of your personal data and takes measures to ensure any personal data remains secure. Further, all payment information is automatically encrypted and we never have full payment details in our disposal.

In this instance, we'd strongly recommend reaching out to your bank/credit card institutition for more information regarding these charges that you're seeing.

On another note, we'd suggest taking a look at this support site article on further steps to make sure your Spotify account remains protected.

You can also take the steps below in addition, if you'd prefer:

  1. Open the password reset form in a private/incognito window, and choose a strong password you haven't used before.
  2. Go to your account page and click SIGN OUT EVERYWHERE.

Let us know how you get on :)
