DSGVO and privacy: download my data

DSGVO and privacy: download my data

Hi,

I tried the new function "download your data" (located in "privacy settings") and downloaded my data. The download comes as a ZIP file comprising seven text files, each file containing data in JSON format.

 

I think this data is incomplete. It does not contain all of my personal data that Spotify has.

 

For example the streaming history (StreamingHistory.json) only covers about the last three months. However, when I open

https://open.spotify.com/genre/2016-page

I can see a list of my favourite songs played in 2016. So obviously Spotify has personal data that is not included in the download.

 

I wonder why this is! Additionally, I'd like to have a copy of all my data Spotify has. Thanks.

If you get an automated reply email telling you to check the Knowledgebase or the Spotify Community, you need to reply back to it, even if it's from a no-reply address. Spotify Support usually replies within 24-48 hours.

I contacted Support using the support form. The form can be access by opening

https://support.spotify.com/us/contact-spotify-support/ and then selecting a help path until a page appears with the button "I STILL NEED HELP". Clicking this button opens the support form.

 

There I requested a copy of all my data.

 

Spotify responded that they will collect my data and will inform me by mail when the data is ready for download.

 

I have not heard anything from Spotify since then. On my account page, the privacy settings show that "step 2" of the data collection is active (i.e., "We are preparing your data file. This can take up to 30 days to complete.."). So I will wait.
