Rogers told me I need to contact Spotify and ask them to "de-register" my Spotify account in order for me to then access Rogers' 6-month "Free Premium" promotion with my current Spotify account (instead of having to create a new one to access the promotion).
Lo and behold there seems to be no way to contact Spotify, even though they have a "Contact Spotify" link that leads you around in circles (I really hate this new approach to Customer (non-)Service.)
So how do I have my free Spotify account "de-registered" (not cancelled, so that I can keep all my current playlists etc.)?
I already did complete a form. Guess what the reply was? "Go to the Spotify Community" (see below). Great solution eh?

We have some quick options we think can help you:
● Try searching our support site with frequently asked questions: https://support.spotify.com/
● Go to the Spotify Community: https://community.spotify.com/. Even if there isn’t already an answer there to your question, you can post it and someone will answer quickly.
● Also, find out about major service updates at @SpotifyStatus: https://twitter.com/SpotifyStatus

Yes worries: My time is being wasted by Spotify sending me around in circles to new "support" channels that have no real support at the end of them. I've explained the problem. Does Spotify have a solution? Or is it just trying to tire me out so that I give up? 🙂
