Debit card payment

Debit card payment

I'm based in Singapore and have been paying for premium for about a year with a Citibank gold debit card (has the visa logo on it).  My wallet was recently lost and i got a replacement card.  It was the same type card.  I tried to put in my new CC info, but get this message "

Oops, seems your card or payment provider is having a bad day. Don't worry, no money has been charged. Try again or use another payment method."

Assuming it was a citibank issue, i checked with them.  Their response "

The transactions that we’ve seen from November to Jan were recurring charges of SGD 9.90 from Spotify. This was done through your old card number ending with 1520, which  was closed in early February. According to records these purchases were successful as the card number was given to the merchant to charge the items. I believe that the transaction that you’re trying to do now is to key your card number into Spotify’s site to charge an item on your new card ending with 8400. This transaction was declined as debit cards cannot be used for e-commerce transactions."

Can you help me?  Thanks.
