Delete shared playlist?

Hey there!

What actually happens when I delete a shared playlist? Will it still be available for the people I have shared it with? Do I just remove it locally? 😕

Hey! Welcome to the Community!

Playlists are saved in Spotify servers. So when you delete playlist, it is still available to others. If you do not want this, just remove all tracks from playlist before you delete it. But of course, you can subscribe to your playlists again at any time. You have rights to choose. 🙂

Great, thanks! Just one more question then. If I delete the playlist and a person looks for my "Published playlists" by clicking my username in the Spotify client - will it still appear there? (Yeah, I know - details, details, details...) 🙂

If I understand you correctly, Spotify playlists are updated in real-time. So when someone listen/browsing/subscribed your playlist, tracks are gone/added, when you delete/added those from/to playlist.

There is no way to remove playlists completely, but you can of course delete all songs in playlist, if you want. 🙂

I have just deleted a playlist. Just so I understand the two differences between 'deleting' and 'deleting'.....

I have a shared a playlist by sending it to another member:

1) If I delete the playlist, can the other member still listen to the playlist?

2) If I close my account on Spotify, will the other member still be able to listen to the playlist?

Other members are subscribing to my playlists by finding my name:

1) If I delete the playlist, can the other member still listen to the playlist?

2) If I close my account on Spotify, will the other member still be able to listen to the playlist?

If I

A) Delete my playlist: is it still available for ALL others

B) Delete my songs within the playlist and then delete the playlist: is it still available for ALL others?

If you delete playlist from your Spotify, your playlist is still available to others (for example to subscribers).

2) If I close my account on Spotify, will the other member still be able to listen to the playlist?

There is no option to close account. Customer service can close account for you, however. You can ask with account removal request also playlist removal request.

Deleted account is not available anymore in Spotify system.

Hi Guys,

I also have a question related to the shared playlist. I would love to make a playlist of a specific genre where everybody can add their favorite tracks. The problem I'm facing is that people can add music but also delete music from the playlist. So what stops someone from making the mistake of selecting a track and deleting it while others maybe love this track? I tested this with a friend, I made a shared playlist, added 10 tracks and then he would delete one. I didn't get any notifaction of the fact that this track was deleted which makes it an unreliable "database".

Is it not possible to make certain admin roles or to make it so that if someone deletes a track, it wouldn't influence the playlist for all the other (only adding tracks would influence the list for everybody).

Any thoughts?

Hi @13245 Did you make the playlist public and then gain some unwanted subscribers? 

Please see this post by @user-removed just above. You can change which playlists are public by going to your Profile in the desktop app. We have outlined the full steps here.

I seem to have accidentally created a shared playlist. It is an empty playlist and despite numerous attempts I can find no way to remove it. Any ideas?

What device are you using? It's definitely a playlist you created and not one you followed? Do you get an error when you try to delete it?

Hi, do you know if i delete a song from my playlist that i have shared,

does the song delete from my friends computer as well?

And if i have made any corrections before he klicks follow from my list in the mail, does he se the new changes direct?

I posted a playlist to the wrong user name.  Is there any way now to delete it?

Then next time I tried to post it, it didn't ask for a user name and just posted it with a #.  What happened?  Where did it go? Is there anyway to delete that as well?  Thank you!!

Hey. I found a way and would like to delete my Spotify account, but I have playlists on it I would like to keep and not remake. I already have my new account made. If I follow the account and save the playlists, will they still appear after I delete my account? Thank you.
