Device Labeled "Kitchen Speaker" Using my account

Device Labeled "Kitchen Speaker" Using my account

I have been in the midst of listening to my music lately when out of no where the music stops. When I check my phone it says "you are listening on Kitchen Speaker"....oh I am most certainly not. I have never heard of this device so of course I never linked it or connected to it. We have an Echo Dot in our kitchen but it is not that, we never use it. I have already tried signing out everywhere AND resetting my password. It did not work I am still getting the message. So is there any other way to fix this without having to close the account and paying a new subscription for a new account since I am a premium family plan owner? I'd hate for my members accounts to get closed and them lose all of their music. I have also tried "forget this device" and that hasn't worked. Please any help would be appreciated. I have no clue who it could be, all of my friends have their own Spotify accounts.

Hi @ChevyThumpin09!

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with this. It sounds like someone else may have gained access to your Spotify account. I'd recommend checking out this Support article for the next steps to take.

Hi there,

This looks the reason.

After revoking all access and change to a strong password. Recent days(4-5), the Kitchen Speaker does not come back

BTW, this image shows some history from the Kitchen Speaker. Not sure if we are talking about the same one.

Hi @81768630,

Thanks for reaching out! We're happy to hear that you've secured your account.

The listening history will change as long as you keep listening to more music, so no worries about that 🙂

You can also check out this article on how to keep your account safe.

Keep us posted!

Hi Petya ,

Thank you for the reply. For the listening history, I did not listen that music and it's from the "Kitchen Speaker".

For the issue in this ticket, today I got another three new listening history which is not from me.

  • And when I connected to my Bluetooth earphone, the volume was turned to the Max. Not sure if someone else connect to my account to try to locate the "unknow" device by turning the Volume into Max which is what I did before 😅

If this issue emerge again later, I can post update in here

Hi @81768630,

Thanks for getting back to us and for the screenshot!

Btw, did you use the Sign Out Everywhere option before or after resetting the password?

You can also reset the password of the email linked to your Spotify account.

We'll be keeping an eye out for your reply!

Hi @Petya,

Today I get the same issue again and contacted the Spotify support from the 2 in https://support.spotify.com/us/article/someone-has-gained-access-to-my-account/.

I did the following

  • 1) password reset under incognito mode(with a Very strong password)
  • 2) Reset offline devices
  • 3) revoked all access of any 3rd-party apps

Hope this can solve the issue. Actually if so, I guess the reason for the issue may be one of 3rd-party apps

Hey @81768630,

Thanks for getting back to us!

It's a good measure to use a strong and unique password for every service that you use. Thumbs up for taking all the precautions listed in the article!

Since it has happened again, it's also useful that you've contacted the support.

Hi @Petya,

It looks all good now.
I think the reason for my issue should be the "3rd-party apps". And disabling them solves my issue

VERSION 8.8.96.395

Hi- I've had the same problem with Spotify for quite some time. In the past few weeks, it has worsened. The restart, update, forget device, and uninstall/reinstall options do not work. I have counted in one sitting how many times it switched to a nonexistent device, "Kitchen Home". In addition, the switch to other music due to this Kitchen Home glitch has changed my algorithm. Please advise, thank you.
