Does the student discount plan charge annually, or monthly?

I am aware that the discount is applied to the account every year, but what about the billing? Does it charge $5/month each month, or does it charge $60 per year? I'm asking because I plan to merge 3 free accounts and a recently activated student account to a family account so we can all get premium for an affordable price, but I won't if it already charged $60 for 2 months. The account holder isn't tech savvy so we couldn't see how his student account was being billed.

The Spotify student discount is set as a monthly paid plan. So if you've been subscribing for 2 months the price would be $10.

Just remember that any discounts cannot be applied to Family plan accounts. You would need to cancel your current subscription first and let it expire to be able to subscribe to the Family plan.
