Don't recognize username

Don't recognize username

Went to log onto Spotify on my computer (web player) and entered my email and password and it said "not recognized". Changed my password, but when I went into my profile, the username was a string of characters that I didn't recognize. I do not log in via Google, or FB, etc. I use a username (email) and password. How do I resolve this so I can log in? Do I need to use that string of characters?

The string of characters you don't recognize is in fact your profile name.  So yes, that's normal and that's what Spotify identifies you as instead of MusicallyDelicious (you get what I'm saying).  You cannot resolve this.  If spotify is not letting you log in with your email/password then a few things are happening.


1.  The algorithm thinks you might be a bot, especially if you've cleaned your cache/cookies lately and is forcing you to do a password reset.

2.  The algorithm thinks you may not be an authorized user, especially if you've recently cleaned cache/cookies lately and is forcing you to do a password reset.


A password reset should solve the problem.  If your email does not register then the entire account has been deleted and you will have to re-register.  Make sure to "verify email" should it ask - that will help eliminate the problem in the future.
